I don’t see my oldest niece for Christmas until the end of January, so every year I wait until mid-January to buy her Christmas present so that, in the event it needs to be returned, she doesn’t get screwed by 30-day return/exchange policies. This year, I’m thinking that, instead, I’ll get theater (theatre?) tickets for us. My niece is 14, very into singing, dancing, acting— theater in general. She’s been doing dancing school and theater/-re camps pretty much since I’ve known her (her father started dating my sister when she was 5). My original plan was to get How To Succeed In Business tickets so that she could see Nick Jonas and swoon all over the place, but the prices I’m finding are pretty astronomical. Instead, it just dawned on me to get tickets for Anything Goes. Joel Grey is starring, it’s age-appropriate for my niece, it’s classic, and, best of all, I can get 2 orchestra seats for $115 total!!!  I’ve never actually seen Anything Goes, so what I’m wondering now is, has anyone seen it? Will it be worth it? If you were a 14-year-old girl, would you like your pretty awesome, young aunt escort you into NYC for a Broadway play and lunch somewhere fun like & kitschy like Planet Hollywood?
