I'm Bree. I'm a 26 year old Jersey girl, and I'm here to dazzle you with my cupcakes! Well, maybe not "dazzle" exactly, but I do tend to brag about my cupcake endeavors quite a bit. I'll also throw in some random "things going on in my life" posts from time to time. Enjoy!

the ultimate...

I was completely blown away! I highly recommend this show to anyone and everyone! It’s only running through September 9th, and, as far as I can tell, Sutton Foster & Joel Grey are only in it through the end of April, so I would suggest you “step in it… sit on it… STEP ON IT!”
I’ve been hemming-and-hawing over how to present my niece with her Anything Goes “Christmas” present tickets. I can’t give her the physical tickets because, since I bought them through HipTix, I have to pick them up at the box office the day of the performance.
Instead, I’ve decided to gift her with this faux-passport that informs her that she’ll be going to the show. I’m also thinking of doing something with a message in a bottle. Perhaps a treasure map to our seats or something of that sort.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d gladly take them!
I’m also trying to work out some sort of “Let’s Make a Deal” type scenario to present her with her choices for our pre-show lunch that day. I’ll also take any advice for this!
Woo Hoo! I just got $22 tickets to Anything Goes using HipTix! Thanks to everyone who weighed in on the theater issue a few days ago.
So, for anyone who’s wondering, HipTix is a program for 18-35-year-olds. You can register for free, and you’ll have access to theater tickets in the Roundabout Theatre Company for about $20. The even better part is that there are no additional service/facility/handling fees.
I also upgraded to Gold member status for a one time donation of $75, and that upgrades my $20 tickets to orchestra or front mezzanine seats for the next year.
So I got 2 second row, center, front mezzanine seats for Anything Goes for my niece and myself for a grand total of (drumroll, please…..) $115!!!!
I don’t see my oldest niece for Christmas until the end of January, so every year I wait until mid-January to buy her Christmas present so that, in the event it needs to be returned, she doesn’t get screwed by 30-day return/exchange policies.
This year, I’m thinking that, instead, I’ll get theater (theatre?) tickets for us. My niece is 14, very into singing, dancing, acting— theater in general. She’s been doing dancing school and theater/-re camps pretty much since I’ve known her (her father started dating my sister when she was 5). My original plan was to get How To Succeed In Business tickets so that she could see Nick Jonas and swoon all over the place, but the prices I’m finding are pretty astronomical.
Instead, it just dawned on me to get tickets for Anything Goes. Joel Grey is starring, it’s age-appropriate for my niece, it’s classic, and, best of all, I can get 2 orchestra seats for $115 total!!!
I’ve never actually seen Anything Goes, so what I’m wondering now is, has anyone seen it? Will it be worth it? If you were a 14-year-old girl, would you like your pretty awesome, young aunt escort you into NYC for a Broadway play and lunch somewhere fun like & kitschy like Planet Hollywood?
